My Healthy Mid-life Crisis – Days 35-49

Day 35 – Day 43

So, here’s the update!

I’ve been on holiday.  I did NO exercise!  I ate like a pig!  I drank beers in the middle of the day.  I ate take aways.  I sat and did nothing except read for ages.

What I’m trying to tell you is … I put 3lb back on!  (Taking me back up to 15st 9lb)

This is disappointing (but, if I’m honest, I don’t regret it – I needed a holiday, and I took one!).

Tomorrow, I will get back on the diet, and back to the exercise.

Day 44

Calories ate: 1977
Calories lost through exercise: 455
Net Calories: 1522
Exercise: Ran 2.02 at an average pace of 11min 58sec per mile

I made the mistake of coming back from holiday to a really full day (a PCC away day).  So I didn’t get round to exercising till late in the day, which always makes me slower.  Then there’s the fact that I have ate like a pig and done no exercise for a week.  So … as you may have guessed, it was hard, hard work.  The first mile wasn’t actually so bad.  But then I made the mistake of stopping to walk for 20 or 30 metres, and after that it was awful.  I got a stitch, and was so, so slow.  But, afterward I did feel better for making the effort to get back on track.

Day 45

Calories ate: 1977
Calories lost through exercise: 544
Net Calories: 1433
Exercise: Gym – Treadmill (10min), Bike (10 min), Stairmaster (5 min), round of weights.

I can barely believe it myself, but it actually feels good to get back in the gym and work!  That’s right, I actually admitted to enjoying doing some exercise!  I can feel the fact that I have had a week off.  But I definately feel good for the exercise.

Day 46

Calories ate: 1922
Calories lost through exercise: 392
Net Calories: 1530
Exercise:  Gym –  Treadmill (10min), Bike (10 min), Stairmaster (5 min), round of weights.

I ended up at the gym very late today, as it was the only opportunity I had to get there.  But at least I did it.

Day 47

Calories ate: 1912
Calories lost through exercise: 555
Net Calories: 1357
Exercise: Gym – Treadmill (10min), Bike (10 min), Stairmaster (10 min), round of weights.

It was a really rushed day today.  I had to squeeze my exercise in before I was on an overnight course.  It also meant that I couldn’t control what I had for meals (they were provided on the course).  So tomorrow I am being fed breakfast and lunch, and we’re out for dinner for my wife’s birthday, so goodness only knows what my calorie count will be!!

Day 48

Calories ate: 2224
Calories lost through exercise: 467
Net Calories: 1756
Exercise: Ran 3.02 miles at an average pace of 11min 40sec per mile

As you can see I ate a lot today.  In my defence breakfast and lunch were part of a course I was on, and then I went out for evening meal with my wife for her birthday.  I did try to make up for it by running 3, yes 3, miles.  But it was hard, as it was after all three full meals, and the most I have ever run!

Day 49

Calories ate: 2146
Calories lost through exercise: 584
Net Calories: 1562
Exercise: Ran 3.02 miles at an average pace of 11min 6 sec per mile

I ate a lot today, came back from my run really hungry.  But I was really pleased to have run 3 miles again.  Afterward I wondered how far 5K is in miles, and found it’s 3.107 miles, so I was really close!  So next week I want to try to run 5K!!

Week Summery

Weight: 15st 5lb
Weight lost this (two) weeks: 2lb (Well I actually put 3lb on and then lost 5lb, so really pleased with that!)
Total weight lost: 1st 2lb

I enjoyed my holiday and do not regret taking the time off the 100 Day program.  But feels really good to get back on track.  Definitely feel so much healthier already!  Tomorrow I will be half way through!!  Bring it on!
